Sky Therapy: What Happens When Everyone Gets a Chance to Fly

Some stories don’t start with a plane ticket or a parachute. They start with a wheelchair. A quiet apartment. A list of things that used to be possible. They start with a limitation — and then they take off.

At Texas Paramotor, we believe flying isn’t just for thrill seekers or athletes. It’s not just for people who can run down a field or grip a brake toggle tightly. It’s for anyone with the courage to let go of the ground.

That’s the heart behind Sky Therapy — our partnership with Project Airtime that brings free tandem paramotor flights to people living with disabilities, injuries, or challenges that keep them from moving freely.

We’ve seen firsthand what it does. And it changes everything.

The Sky Doesn’t Judge

“We find it’s a really great thing to be able to offer to someone who’s stuck in a chair… when you can give them the toggles and they can fly around and feel the air in their face and go wherever they want, it’s a pretty good thing to be able to offer.”
Ryan Glowka, Texas Paramotor

It’s hard to describe what happens when a paraplegic pilot gets their hands on the controls of a paramotor wing. They don’t just go up. They open up.

They feel wind — not through the crack of a window, but across their face, rushing past their ears. They steer. They rise. They move on their own terms.

For a few minutes, the chair is gone. The limitations fade. And there’s nothing left but sky.

Who It’s For

Sky Therapy isn’t just for one kind of person. We’ve flown:

  • Paraplegics who never thought they’d leave the ground again
  • Quadriplegics, with support and special gear, guided every step of the way
  • People with cognitive challenges who found peace in the stillness of the air
  • Veterans, stroke survivors, and caregivers who’ve spent years giving more than they receive

And that’s the point. It’s not about disability — it’s about possibility.

Anyone who needs a moment of joy, a breath of freedom, or a reminder of what’s still out there… Sky Therapy is for them.

No Cost. No Catch. Just Lift.

The entire experience is offered free of charge, made possible by volunteers and our partnership with Project Airtime. That means:

  • We don’t ask for a donation.
  • We don’t require a background story.
  • We don’t make you “prove” anything.

If someone would benefit from a tandem flight — we want them in the sky.

“Quadriplegics, paraplegics are our specialty, but anyone who deserves a good flight—we’re happy to take them in the air and we can figure out a way to make it happen.”
Ryan Glowka

One Story, A Thousand Reasons

There was a man — let’s call him Mark. His family reached out quietly, unsure if it would even be possible. Mark hadn’t walked in over a decade. He spent most of his days inside, watching birds from the back patio.

We met him at the field with the tandem setup. Ryan strapped in behind him. Paul prepped the wing. And before Mark could overthink it — they were up.

He flew.

He didn’t speak much on the way back down. But when they unbuckled him and helped him into his chair, he looked at his wife and said, “That was the first time in years I felt like I wasn’t broken.”

Moments like that don’t happen every day. But with your help, they could.

How to Nominate Someone

If you know someone — a neighbor, a relative, a patient, a friend — who would benefit from this kind of experience, we invite you to submit their name. We handle the rest. It only takes five minutes to fill out the form. And it might change their life forever.

Because Everyone Deserves to Fly

There’s something universal about flight. It speaks to the part of us that wants to rise above our limits. To move freely. To feel the wind and forget the weight. At Texas Paramotor, we don’t just teach people to fly — we invite them to rediscover who they are. And through Sky Therapy, we’re proud to offer that invitation to everyone.
